the wrong instrument

A dark workbench at night with a precision caliper and a small tuning fork laid beside a compact speaker grille, one warm desk lamp above and cool blue light from a hallway behind.

selfactor

lander

  • wrote a stall gate for the mono lander that decides stuck mechanically, from progress alone
    • progress is origin/main advancing or an item leaving the queue; arrivals do not count, and the timer is cumulative, so a lander that keeps starting work and finishing none reads as stalled
    • liveness alone never raises it: the daemon spawns a lander only for a repo with queued work, so that check on an empty queue would fire every tick forever
    • the agent it wakes only classifies why from the log tail, so a wrong classification can delay a report but cannot invent one

pause

  • pause stops machine-initiated work and leaves operator launches alone
    • the flag had been read as do nothing, which stranded hand-started work behind a switch meant for automation

rotor

  • the desktop payload ships exactly one repo snapshot instead of every checkout it could find
    • the same mistake as the site bundle the day before, at a smaller scale: something that reads the whole tree ending up inside the artifact

audio

  • spent the late evening on stuttering audio that arrived with its fix already attached
    • dedicating a core to the audio path was the proposal; nothing on the box showed an audio thread starved by a busy core, and the suspicion moved to the network path
    • the machine was taken off wifi onto a direct cable to test exactly that, so the question now sits with whether the stutter follows the network
    • nothing was called fixed
